Animal Humane Society Barn Cats

Asheville humane society has cats who would love to be put to work!
Animal humane society barn cats. For caring, compassionate advice and resources to address all your animal concerns. We need people to provide new, permanent homes to one or more homeless cats. The cats often develop strong bonds with other cats, which is why the wisconsin humane society recommends that at least two cats be placed together.
The cats listed on this page are fixed and vaccinated, but are not able to be handled or cuddled, and should be considered outdoor cats. Placing them as barn cats on rural property is a humane, practical alternative to euthanasia. Not every cat is a snuggly, lap cat or one who acts more like a dog, and we know some people want a cat they can admire from afar and possibly keep as a “barn” cat.
We occasionally have cats available for adoption that just want to be outside. Our barn cat program is designed to find feral and community cats safe outdoor homes in barns, warehouses, farms and other safe locations for cats that are not candidates for our traditional adoption programs. Are you willing to help out some cats that just don’t like being inside?
The $25 adoption fee for barn cats helps us cover some of their medical costs. To help your new barn cat acclimate to his/her new surroundings we encourage you to plan to keep him isolated in a small area within your outbuilding initially, with no access to the outdoors. If you have a working barn or safe, heated outbuilding, there are cats who need you.
By providing a safe shelter and daily food and water you can help these cats have a permanent home, in turn, they can help you by keeping the rodent population down. If you’re interested in applying for a barn cat, please fill out the form below and our staff will assist in scheduling a time for you to pick up your barn cats. As a humane society, our ultimate goal is that all cats have a home.
Looking for a cat to love, but admire from afar? This program is for cats already in our care. These cats can be placed successfully in barns, construction companies, police stations, and other businesses looking for inexpensive and effective rodent control.
