It’s important to be aware of something that affects literally everyone, and that a quarter of the population regularly struggle with. Research has shown that mental illness cost the british economy almost £35 billion last year. Mental health awareness week (mhaw) 2019 is inspired by te whare tapa whā, a māori health model that describes health as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls.
The theme for mental health awareness week in 2020 is kindness. As a company we like to look after our staff and we participated in mental health awareness week promoting the 5 ways. This has a direct impact on mental health and wellbeing.
Something which has never been more important with the global pandemic affecting so many of us. Across the city, hundreds of people have made their own contribution to the theme. The week is an opportunity for people to talk about all aspects of mental health, with a focus on providing help and advice.
